At approximately 3:30 p.m., while the pastor and his wife were visiting a congregant’s home in Kurakkalmadam, a group of around 30 villagers stood outside the premises and shouted for the pastor to step outside. They damaged the front door of the house and a cross hanging on it.
When the pastor went outside the group demanded to know if the pastor had approval to carry out his worship activities in the village. The pastor responded that he was simply visiting a congregant and not conducting any worship services. The group threatened the pastor, claiming that he was not allowed to enter the village and scolded the pastor’s wife in obscene language. Some of the group attempted to assault the pastor but he and his wife managed to mount their motorcycle and leave.
