Neighbour levels false allegations against pastor

April 24, 2018

The pastor and his wife arrived at the Sapugaskanda Police Station at approximately 09 a.m., for an inquiry with the Officer-in-Charge, concerning a complaint filed by their neighbour (numbered CIB (III) 113/197). Their neighbour was also present at the inquiry and falsely accused the pastor of causing a disturbance, complained about the noise, and asked the OIC to bring an end to their religious worship activities. The OIC, however, admonished the neighbour for making such complaints while there was an ongoing court case regarding the same and even after the pastor had sound-proofed his place of worship. He told the neighbour to refer the matter to the Court if she so wished and stated that he did not have the authority to curtail religious worship activities.
