Buddhist monks oppose Christian religious worship activities

The pastor, along with a fellow pastor, the owner of the premises, and 10 congregants arrived at the Puttalam Police Station at around 04 p.m., for an inquiry in relation to a petition filed against the place of worship by the Buddhist monks in the village. 08 Buddhist monks, 05 villagers, and the Headquarters Inspector (HQI) were also present at the inquiry.

The monks voiced their opposition to the pastor’s religious worship activities, demanding a stop to his activities immediately. The HQI stated that he would refer the matter to the courts and filed a case at the Puttalam Magistrates Court, bearing number 38759/17. The pastor has been conducting his religious worship activities in the area for the past 06 years.
