Buddhist monks demand action to be taken against Christians

November 21, 2017

02 pastors along with 04 other congregants arrived at the police station at around 9:30 a.m. for an inquiry concerning their complaint. An Inspector of Police, 03 Buddhist monks, and around 40 members of the death welfare society were also present. The situation escalated and became very tense, with the monks demanding that the police bring an end to the religious worship activities of the Christians and stop them from inviting pastors to the area. The police were unable to deliberate on the matter and decided to refer it to the Mannampitiya Magistrates Court (case number 25597)
